For the next month, the Tournament Capital Centre will look more like a place to hammer nails than a spot to crunch abs.

Work began this week on expanding the parking lot at the McGill Road recreation centre.

The expansion project is taking place along the lane between the TCC and Hillside Stadium, and will see the addition of 15, fifteen-minute drop-off parking stalls and 20 general-parking stalls.

The project will also include the construction of a right-in/right-out curb at the McGill Road entrance.

Hillside and University drives will be used as alternate routes to access the facility.

Construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The expansion, at a cost of $131,000, is expected to be complete by Sept. 4. In addition, crews will also be installing the new TCC video-marquee sign at the main entrance off McGill.

That project will be completed by Sept. 30.
