Bookland turning a page

A downtown institution is closing the cover.
The Bookland book store on Victoria Street is being consolidated with its North Kamloops Bookland operation and will be closing on Saturday.
The discount bookstore has been operating for more than 35 years, first as Bob’s PX, then as Bookland under the Monahan Agency out of Vernon.
A company spokesperson described the move as a “business decision.”
It’s believed some of the downtown employees will move to the North Shore store.
Three years ago, the North Kamloops Bookland outlet relocated to its 12,000-square-foot site at Eighth Street and Fortune Drive.
