Arnold, Devries, Husiman play strong offence
The Sicamous Eagles kept a brave face in a losing battle last weekend against Spokane.
Sicamous’ Mark Arnold potted the first goal of the evening at 19:07 in their Oct. 23 contest against hosts, the Spokane Braves. An encouraging start for the Eagles who, despite landing 41 shots on the well-guarded Spokane net, courtesy of Cash Ulrich, would only manage one more goal in the 5-2 decision for the Braves. Derek Husiman, who took an assist in the first goal with Daryl Devries, put in Sicamous’ second goal with help from Devries and Arnold. The three were awarded game stars, with Arnold getting first, Husiman second and Devries third.
The following night, Oct. 24, the Princeton Posse kept the Eagles on their toes but wound up losing out to a 7-6 overtime decision.
Husiman put in Sicamous’ sole goal in the first frame, with help once more from Arnold and Devries.
In the second frame goals came from Arnold and Jarryd Tenvaanhold, with assists going to Husiman, Andy Milne, Riley Muise and Mike Piderman.
The Eagles dominated the third period with one goal by Scott Fellnermayr and a deuce from Kenneth McKay. Assists went to Mike Collins, Cain Franson, Fellnermayr, Aaron Buat and two by Garrett Earley.
The Eagles are back on Oct. 28 to face off against the Kamloops Storm. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
