A Malakwa resident is facing drug-related charges after being arrested following a dispute with another woman Sunday near Vernon’s downtown core.

A Vernon RCMP officer was alerted to an argument going on Sunday night between two women in the 3300 block of 32nd Avenue.

One woman was arrested for causing a disturbance, and the officer dealing with her then noticed she had a quantity of drugs in her possession.

“The drugs were packaged in such a way to suggest they were for trafficking,” said Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.

A 21-year-old woman from Malakwa was arrested and released to appear in Vernon Provincial Court at a later date.
