Public asked to help community’s homeless

The public is invited to join the Eagle Valley Support Society in taking community action on homelessness.

The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Main Street Landing Park.

The Sicamous Lions will be serving soup on a bun.

To help those in need, attendees are encouraged to bring donations of clean, warm clothing, jackets, blankets, boots, socks, mitts, scarfs and non-perishable food items.

Awareness

The Eagle Valley Community Support Society will present on Monday, Nov. 24, two documetaries for National Addictions Awareness Week, Nov. 16 to 22.

Death by Jib is the true story of one young man’s struggle with crystal meth, and his family’s pain and helplesssness.

The Barb Tarbox Story is a true account of one woman’s valiant campaign to expose the impact of her addiction to cigarettes before dying of lung cancer at the age of 41.

There will be two sessions including the documentaries, one from 10 to 11 a.m. and the other from 7 to 8 p.m. Support and information will be available during and after both sessions.

Storytime

With Jack Frost nipping at your nose, you may want to come by the cosy Sicamous library for the warm, cheeful Christmas Fun at the Library program.

Children of all ages are invited to bring their families for this free Christmas program on Friday, Dec. 12, from 6 to 7 p.m.

You will be treated to a super puppet show, spell-binding stories, fun songs with special guest Sharon Dyck, cute crafts and scrumptious treats.

Christmas crafts

Find unique stocking stuffers at the Sicamous Market annual Christmas Craft Fair Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Seniors Activity Centre.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a concession on site.

Bazaar

The Malakwa Community Centre Association is holding their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
