Some new hats thrown in the rings

There will be an election to be school trustee for Wells Gray Country (Area A) and Thompson Headwaters (Area B). Retired teacher David Simms is challenging incumbent John Harwood for a seat on the School District 73 board.

In Barriere, incumbent school trustee Joanne Stokes was returned by acclamation.

Harwood will not have to compete in a second election for mayor at the same time. He was elected by acclamation as no one stepped forward to challenge him for the District of Clearwater’s top job.

Vying for seats around the Clearwater council table will be Brent Buck, Christy Dobi, Grant Gale, Candus Pelton-Graffunder, Ken Kjenstad, Stephanie Teare and Bert Walker.

Running to represent Wells Gray Country at the Thompson-Nicola Regional District are John Wilcox and Tim Pennell. Thompson Headwaters candidates are Max Lentz and Steve Quinn. Nominees for Area O (Barriere-Little Fort) are Bonnie Cruzellemagran and Bill Kershaw.

Nominations for school board, District of Clearwater and TNRD closed on Friday. Local government and school board elections will be held across the province on Saturday, Nov. 15.
