Bus stop on the move

Construction on the long-awaited Clearwater General Store project should begin within two weeks.

That’s the word from Dave Madsen of Little Fort, manager of Jim Man Lee Stores.

“It’s a go,” said Madsen. “It likely will be a six to eight month project, with the opening in early 2009.”

The new facility, located in what is now the local Greyhound station (on Highway 5 west of the junction with Clearwater Valley Road), will include a Shell gas station, a drive-in A&W restaurant, plus a convenience store, he added.

Although the contractor is from Kamloops and the project manager from Calgary, as much of the construction workforce as possible will be hired locally.

Greyhound is temporarily re-locating its local outlet to the former Little Martins Restaurant, located on Clearwater Village Road across from Raft River Elementary School.
