Celebrate BC's 150 with strawberries

On Saturday, July 5 the Clearwater Farmers Market and Clearwater Ski Hill will celebrate British Columbia's 150th anniversary with a "Strawberry Feastival." There is so much to learn and remember about the history of strawberry growing in our area. It has been very exciting gathering up this information. We have a full day planned, so do come and join us starting at 9 a.m. on the grounds of Interior Whitewater Expeditions. Enter your best strawberry creation in the Strawberry Baking Contest. Visit the Event Tent to learn more about our agricultural heritage. There will be complimentary strawberry runners given to our first paying customers after 9 a.m.
Wrap up your afternoon starting at 2 p.m. at the Ski hill lodge where you can indulge in strawberry shortcake while enjoying the entertainment they have planned. Following is the schedule of events for the day:
• 8:00 a.m. onward - Strawberry smoothies at the Kettle Cafe
• 8:00 a.m. to closing- Elks' strawberry pancake breakfast at the Elks
• 8:30-9 a.m.- Drop off strawberry baking contest entries on the porch of the Kettle Cafe
• 9:00 a.m.- Judging of the baking contest.
• 10:00 a.m.- Strawberry eating contest for kids
• 10:30 a.m.- Cutting of the BC150 birthday cake at the Kettle Cafe
• 11:00 a.m.- Strawberry piñata for kids
• 2:00 p.m.- Strawberry Tea and entertainment at the Ski Hill Lodge ($2.00 entry).
