Local scam warning

A warning from local RCMP and a fan-out warning via the Rural Crime Watch computer system is hoped to prevent other area residents from falling victim to another scam.

“It has come to our attention of a probable scam that has been occurring in the past few weeks in which some North Thompson residents have either fallen for or were about to,” warns Barriere RCMP Cpl. Mike Mucha.

With summer swiftly drawing to an end, 29 ladies took to the links on Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, to enjoy a wonderful round of golf. Already you can tell that I had a better game than last week. Golf is like that. Just when you get discouraged and think you will give the darn game up, the golf gods give you a good round. You know it is a temporary thing but you still enjoy it. It is a lot like losing weight. You know eventually you will find it again but just for the time being – life is good.

The weather on Tuesday night was beautiful – my golfing was not. The temperature was high and so was my score. I had a million mediocre excuses for the sad performance but none of them really good enough to mention. Certainly what my golfing lacked, the company made up for. If only you kept score by the laugh meter, I would have been the winner.
