Oct. 22 at 6:13 pm police attended a single motor vehicle rollover on Hwy 1 about 15 km east of Cache Creek. The 84 year old Cache Creek man said he saw a deer on the road and swerved to miss it, leaving the road and rolling his 1978 Mercury Zephyr. It came to rest on its roof. The ambulance attended and the driver was treated for his injuries.
Stolen car found
Oct. 23 at 8:17 am police were notified of an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 1 by Ashcroft Ranch. A quick check on the license plate revealed that it did not belong to the 1994 Mazda, which police discovered, had been stolen out of Salmon Arm the day before. The Registered Owner was advised and the matter is still under investigation.
Playing in traffic
Oct. 23 police investigated a complaint of teenagers jumping into traffic at the intersection of Hwy 1 and Todd Rd. in Cache Creek. Investigation showed that the Grade 7 students were having a bake sale at the Post Office and were trying to divert highway traffic to the bake sale. They were given a warning about their behaviour.
Obscene phone call
Oct. 23 at 5:53 pm police were notified of an obscene phone call made to a 60 year old Cache Creek woman. The call was made from Ontario and is believed to have been random.
Not enough sleep
Oct. 24 at 2:17 am police received a report of an erratic driver in a semi truck, waving on Hwy 97 near the Bonaparte Reserve and almost hitting the ditch at one point. The truck was located and the driver spoken to. The 50 year old Surrey man advised that he was tired. He was issue a ticket under the Commercial Vehicle Regulations for excessive hours in his log book.
Green thumb
Oct. 24 at 6:03 pm police stopped a Chev SUV for speeding on Hwy 1 just north of Lytton in the construction zone. The 46 year old Surrey ma was arrested on outstanding drug production charges and more drug grow op equipment was found inside his vehicle. He was also given a ticket for driving contrary to construction zone rules.
Prohibited driver
Oct. 24 at 8:30 pm police conducting a road check on Hwy 12 at Main St. in Lytton stopped a pickup truck. The 31 year old Lytton man could not produce a Drivers License, telling police he had forgotten it at home when in fact he was a prohibited driver. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days and he was given a ticket for driving without a Drivers License.
Drugs and speed
Oct. 24 at 9:45 pm police stopped a speeding pickup truck on Hwy 97 near 83 Mile. Officers noticed a fresh marijuana smell in the truck and arrested the driver and passenger. A small amount of marijuana and hashish were seized. The driver, a 47 year old Mission woman, failed a roadside test and was given a 24 hour suspension for recent drug consumption. She was also given a ticket for speeding and her vehicle was towed. Her passenger was a 38 year old woman from 100 Mile House.
Stolen truck found
Oct. 25 police were advised by the Lytton Detachment that they had recovered a pickup truck that was taken without consent the day before from Cache Creek. The suspect, a 27 year old Cache Creek woman, was attempting to drive to Merritt when she was in a single vehicle accident in Spences Bridge. The truck was severely damaged. The woman was not at the scene when police arrived. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor and charges are likely.
Bad mood
Oct. 27 at 11:06 pm police found a man sleeping in his car in the Oasis parking lot. The intoxicated 56 year old Cache Creek man didn’t appreciate being woken and was in a combative mood, uttering threats at the officers. He was pepper sprayed and arrested, charged with assault, uttering threats and causing a disturbance. He was lodged in cells until sober.
Disabled shoved
Oct. 29 at 3:45 pm police received a complaint by a Thompson View Manor resident that he had been pushed by a non-resident female, resulting in injuries to his right leg. The matter is still under investigation.
Harvester found
Oct. 21 - RCMP co-ordinated rescue efforts after a report that a Lytton Area male went missing in the Nahatlatch area while picking mushrooms. While Search and Rescue prepared to initiate a search, Boston Bar RCMP were able to locate the at-large male stranded in the woods beside his vehicle which had sustained a flat tire.
Disorderly conduct
Oct. 21 - While on routine patrol, police had their attention drawn to a female causing a ruckus in the yard of residence located on the 100 block of Fraser St. A male residing at the residence acknowledged that the female was grossly intoxicated and was not welcome on the property. Police arrested the female and kindly gave her a place to stay in a jail-cell where her presence was welcomed. She was released the following day without charges.
Drunk pedestrian
Oct. 21 - While conducting Traffic Enforcement on the Trans Canada Highway, police encountered more than motorists when they observed a drunk female staggering in the South-Bound Lane near Skihist Provincial Park. For safety concerns, the female was arrested for causing a disturbance and for being intoxicated in a public place. The unappreciative female was given a complementary place to stay in RCMP cells to sober up.
Backseat driving
Oct. 22 - RCMP were provided with a vehicle description and advised that the driver was possibly intoxicated from alcohol consumption. Police located the vehicle parked on Ferry Rd., which contained two intoxicated occupants in the passenger seats. One of the occupants was found to be in possession of keys to the vehicle and was subsequently, issued a 24-hour driving prohibition for being impaired while having care and control of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was impounded under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Firebrand
Oct. 22 - RCMP were requested to deal with a female on Seniors Rd. who was reported to being rowdy in a drunken state. Police attended and observed the female rolling on the ground dangerously close to a large bonfire yelling and screaming. Police terminated the shenanigans, as the female was arrested for causing a disturbance, and afforded the opportunity to continue her actions in police custody. She was charged under the LCLA for being intoxicated in a public place.
Took it, crashed it
Oct. 24 - A report was made of a vehicle which had crashed off of Hwy 8 near Spences Bridge. Police attended and found the vehicle vacant. As a result of the police investigation, it was learned that the vehicle was taken by a female from a male in Cache Creek without his permission while he was sleeping. This matter is still under investigation as charges are pending against the female for taking a motor vehicle without consent.
Impaired by drugs
Oct. 24 - While Lytton RCMP and South-East Traffic Services were conducting a check stop on Main St., they encountered a male who smelled strongly of marijuana. The investigating member formed the opinion that the male was impaired from drug use and subsequently suspended his licence for a period of 24 hours. His vehicle was also impounded for the same period of time.
Making a mess
Oct. 25 - RCMP were called for assistance by a female residing on the 800 block of Main St. as she reported that her son was intoxicated and throwing stuff around the home. A Lytton officer attended and arrested the disruptive male, without incident for breaching the peace. The male was held in Police custody until sober and later released without charges.
