Lester Centre a legacy we should use

Editor:

The anniversary of Mary Lester’s death, (Tuesday, September 30), reminds us of her contribution to this city, especially in regard to the performing

arts.

She, along with many, many others, not by chance but by careful planning and foresight, brought into being our excellent facility, The Lester Centre of the Arts, in which every seat is good for seeing, hearing and enjoying the performance.  Performers, lecturers, and conference organizers have praised this facility.

We, the public, raised funds, volunteered time and effort, voted for and are paying for its existence and maintenance through our property

taxes.

So let us continue to use it with pride for public forums, lectures and concerts of every description.

Sincerely,

Jean Clerihue
