MORE THAN a year of probation is the sentence for a man convicted of assault.

Marcel Randy Jason Fowler will spend 18 months on probation, and, for the first year of that time, he is not allowed to be around young people under 16 if he has consumed alcohol in the previous 24 hours; however, this condition does not apply to his own children if they live with him. He may be around youths under 16 if a sober adult who’s aware of these conditions is also there.

Fowler, charged with sexual assault, plead guilty to the lesser included charge of assault for an incident that happened May 3 of this year. He was credited with 120 days time served in jail.

He must also take counselling as directed by his probation officer, have no contact with the victim and must give a DNA sample to police.
