TERRACE FIRE department has issued a backyard fire ban to reduce the chance of wildfires within the city due to the ongoing warm and dry weather conditions.

This ban does not restrict fires in stoves using gas, propane or briquettes.

“We held off on implementing a fire ban within City limits as long as possible so as not to inconvenience the public,” says Terrace Fire Chief Peter Weeber. “However, the conditions are such that a ban is now necessary.”

This burning ban does not apply to Ferry Island campground as it is being patrolled on a 24-hour basis.

The Riverboat Days fireworks will continue as scheduled Saturday, August 1 at 11 p.m.

The fire department will be taking extra precautions to ensure there is no risk of forest fire.

Officials are also asking the public to refrain from using fireworks of any kind this weekend to reduce the risk of wildfire.

Please report burning of any type within city limits by calling 250-638-4734.
