TRAFFIC LIGHTS are flashing at the corners of Keith Ave. and Eby St. and Keith and Kenney St., turning both intersections into four-way stops this afternoon.

“They probably had a power surge,” said Larry Proteau, area manager bridges for the Ministry of Transportation.

“We're waiting for the electrician to come and flip the switch.”

Electricians under contract to the ministry have been contacted and it's just a matter of waiting for them to arrive, he added.

The local electrician is on holidays and the one contacted to come was on the highway east of Smithers when called.

The traffic lights are expected to be back on around 7 p.m. or 8 p.m., he said.

Traffic lights were also flashing on the Old Skeena bridge.

Flag people are on hand at the old Skeena Bridge to direct traffic, Proteau said.
