CREDIT UNION WEEK was noted by the Northern Savings Credit Union which distributed cheques to various community organizations and groups.

The Skeena Junior Secondary School band was one of those groups, receiving a $5,000 cheque will which help support its $130,000 trip to Cuba next year.

The credit union in Terrace distributed $20,000 this year to seven groups.

The $20,000 annual donations program in Terrace stems from a commitment made in 2004 to distribute a sum of money equally between four branches maintained by the credit union in the northwest.

This year the commitment was $80,000 and the board reviewed 100 grant applications.
