Plaques acknowledging the long-standing work local residents have contributed to cleaning up the community will be awarded next Monday at noon at the Kwinitsa Residence.
Conrad Ganzenberg and Yvonne Moen are long-time members of the Terrace Beautification Society and will have their plaques displayed by the Kwinitsa Residence on Hwy16.
“We felt we should honour our long-term members,” said society president Chris Hansen.
Ganzenberg had the original vision of the linear walkway along the highway, and Hansen says Moen has kept the volunteers going whenever people get tired.
“She’s been our little Engergizer Bunny,” Hansen said.
The society is also planning future plaques for the late city councillor Rich McDaniel and the late local businessman Junior Jingles, a big supporter of the society.
“It’s good to have community support, that’s for sure,” Hansen said.
The society meets at the George Little House every Tuesday at 7 p.m. to work on projects around town.
Hansen says anyone wanting to get out in the fresh air and help is welcome to attend.
