The Jekyll and Hyde Quesnel Millionaires played as Dr. Jekyll Friday night, just in time for Halloween, unfortunately the price was a 7 − 5 loss against division rivals Prince George Spruce Kings.
Coming off a sterling performance against the division-leading Vernon Vipers last weekend, Luke Siemens was anything but stellar giving up three goals in just over 11 minutes of play.
Millionaires coach Glen Watson said he couldn't fault the effort of his players, but the goaltending, on both sides was suspect.
"The pucks were going in," he said.
Taylor Pears, who stepped in for Siemens, fared no better, as Jeremy Wiebe put the Spruce Kings ahead 4 − 0 at the 15:05 mark of the first period.
The Mills finally hit the scoreboard 43 seconds later as newcomer Brendon Hawryluk wristed a shot high passed Spruce Kings netminder Steve Papciak.
The Mills cut the Spruce Kings lead in half at 9:59 of the second period when Taylor Holst scored a power play goal from the top of the face off circle, burying a nifty drop pass from Trever Hertz.
The teams each tallied once more in the second, with the Mills heading to the dressing room on the short end of 5 − 3 score.
Each team scored twice in the third period, to round off the scoring.
Despite the lacklustre performance of his goaltenders, Watson conceded they didn't get much help.
"We had way too many turnovers," a disappointed Watson said after the game.
