A second person has now been charged in connection with the June 3 death of 21-month-old Jor-el Wale in New Hazelton.

On June 11, a youth, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested by the Major Crime Unit and charged with murder

On Friday, November 27, Marion Joan Sampson was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder and obstructing justice. Sampson was the caregiver of the victim at the time of his death. She was scheduled to appear in Supreme Court this morning, November 30 in Smithers.

A forensic autopsy determined that the child died as a result of injuries sustained at the hands of another person. This elevated the investigation to a homicide.
