Guns Stolen
Police are searching for 17 guns stolen from a home on Ewert Crescent this weekend.
The weapons included 10 handguns and seven long guns, Prince George RCMP spokesman Const. Gary Godwin said.
“Seventeen weapons on the street, 10 being handguns, is a worst-case scenario for us,” Godwin said. “They will inevitably go to organized crime.”
Godwin said the guns were purchased and registered legally by the former owner, who passed away recently.
“Who actually has ownership is at question at this point,” Godwin said.
Godwin said the theft may have been a targeted specifically to get the guns, because only the guns were taken.
“It would appear they were securely locked up in a safe, but it got broken into,” he said.
No description of the weapons was available as of press time.
