Vader visits Nov. 20
Polish death metal band Vader is currently finishing up its European tour and will be heading over to North America for its 38-date Decibel Presents: Monsters of Death Tour with California’s Decrepit Birth, L.A.’s Warbringer, the Amenta from Australia, New Jersey’s Swashbuckle and Montreal’s Augury. Vader begins its tour Nov. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland. The band will reach Prince George Nov. 20 when they will play the Roll-A-Dome. Other Canadian stops on the tour include Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Edmonto.
Vader formed in 1983, the name inspired – according to founding singer, vocalist and guitarist Piotr (Peter) Wiwczarek) – by Darth Vader from the Star Wars film series. Called Poland’s forefathers of extreme metal, the other members of Vader are guitarist Waclaw “Vogg” Kieltyka, drummer Pawel “Paul” Jaroszewicz and Tomasz “Reyash” Rejek on bass. The band gained international attention when they released their third demo record, Morbid Reich, in 1990. The success earned the group a contract with Earache Records and their songs appeared on their full-length debut album in 1993, The Ultimate Incantation.
In 1998 they released a sixth album Litany and in March 1999 played their first headlining American tour, the International Extreme Music Festival (1999) as well as Metalmania. In 2004, they opened for Metalica at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow in front of 50,000 people.
The group’s latest album, Necropolis, was released Aug. 21, 2009. Decibel Magazine describes the album’s music as “the riffing is world-class. The soloing is equally fantastic. Technically proficient and unfailingly intense, Necropolis is Vader’s finest since 2002’s Revelations. The Poles have never been this all-aound good.”
