Rampage melt Ice in 4-0 shutout
Justin Lessard (Ice) knocks over Colt Stava (Rampage) in a battle for the puck on Saturday.
It wasn’t exactly the result Omineca Ice fans were hoping for.
The Prince Rupert Rampage and the Ice faced off Saturday night at the Vanderhoof arena. The game began with most of the action taking place in front of the Ice goaltender. The Ice were unable to score in an end of period power play and the first period ended scoreless for both teams.
At the start of the second period, there were 50 seconds left on the Rampage penalty. The Ice had a number of close scoring attempts but were outmatched by the Rampage who scored three goals in about four minutes. The Ice tried to come back but were stopped by a solid Rampage defence. The Rampage scored a fourth goal with two minutes left on the clock.
The third period was full of penalties for both teams, with the Ice spending nearly the entire period shorthanded. They were unable to score and the game ended in a 4-0 shutout.
Shots on goal were 38 for the Rampage and 31 for the Ice.
The next home game for the Ice will be against the Hazelton Wolverines November 7-8.
