RCMP ARE now saying they have a person in custody stemming from this morning's death by stabbing of a 29-year-old Kitimat man.

Speaking early Sunday evening, Kitimat RCMP Constable Kerry Pisio said Robert Purchase, 30, was arrested in Terrace.

"Yes we have a person and yes it is Mr. Purchase," said Pisio who added he had no further immediate information.

What would happen now and what further steps would be taken was also unknown, the constable added.

Police began looking for Purchase this morning after the stabbing which took place on Angle St. in Kitimat.

Police say Purchase was seen at the scene.

They did set up roadblocks and did say they believed he had left the Kitimat area.

Purchase was described as being "armed and unstable."

Officers did warn people not to approach Purchase and to call 911 instead.

RCMP say they were called to a residence on Angle St. at 7:15 this morning where the 29-year-old man was found in a driveway. He was taken to hospital in Kitimat and later passed away.

"We believe this to be an isolated incident," the RCMP press release stated.

Forensic ID officers from Terrace and major crimes officers from Prince George are in Kitimat investigating the death.
