In the early hours of last Wednesday, August 26, the City Centre Mall was broken into for the second time in 10 days.

And the entry point - through the lower mall doors facing the museum courtyard - was the same as before.

Corporal Dale Peppler said once inside, the perpetrator(s) had thrown two rocks through the windows of Book Masters/The Source, located at the other end of the mall.

He said the owners were checking, but “it doesn’t look at this time as if anything was taken.”

Peppler added the store had a good alarm system which apparently scared off the perps.

The earlier incident occurred sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 16.

Constable Dan Kelly, the lead investigator on that incident, noted several items were taken, including cash.

It is not known how long exactly the culprits spent in the mall before a security alarm in one of the stores alerted the RCMP.

Peppler said the police are investigating similar B & E incidents and do have suspects.

That said, anyone with information on either of the above break-ins or any others was asked to call the detachment at 250-632-7111, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
