Pets’ turn to trick or treat

Halloween is going to the dogs in Kitimat this year.

The Looking for Love Society will host a Hallowe’en trick or treat at the city’s future animal shelter on Saturday, October 31.

From noon to 3 p.m., locals are invited to bring the family and discover the progress being made on the new building.

“Hallowe’en gives us an occasion to give the shelter some publicity,” said society vice-president Ron Burnett.

“All of the work going on at the site is starting to get buried behind drywall and paint,” he explained. “People who have been following us since day one will be amazed at where we’re at.”

Tours and treats will be given out in abundance, said Burnett. The grill will also be on, serving up hotdogs and other refreshments for a small donation.

Special treat bags will be given out to all pets dressed up and on a leash.

A harvest patch will be set up inside the building for pet photographs, which Burnett said could make a great Christmas gift.

Also just in time for Christmas, Revenue Canada has certified the society to write out charitable tax receipts for all donations.

The building is located adjacent to Eurocan.
