‘Magic’ is coming to the MET

Imagine the intimacy of a kitchen party, the primeval passion of rhythm, dance and song, and the thrill and excitement of Irish Dancers and live musicians, and you have The Magic of Ireland!

The Sentinel is proud to bring to Kitimat, Canada’s only international touring Irish dance show.

They will perform for one night only - October 22 - at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the MET box office and Bookmasters.

Traditional dance and music have always been driving forces of Irish culture.

The Magic of Ireland is unique because every note, lyric, and tap is performed live, without the use of pre-recorded elements to fill out the sound; as a result, every show is different.

The most exciting thing about a Magic of Ireland performance is the spontaneity the performers bring to the stage.

“We’re offering a shared experience that involves the audience in an intimate setting,” says the show’s Newfoundland-based director Shawn Silver.

The show draws on the traditional “ceili” - the social gatherings that take place across Ireland - evoking a time and place steeped in legend, lore and enchantment.

“It is exactly what an Irish dance show is meant to be,” says Silver, “authentic, live, beautiful and moving.”

“The Magic of Ireland emerged out of passion as much as a need”, says producer Peter Jacobs, who previously promoted one of the most successful Irish dance shows of all time - Gael Force.

Audiences’ overwhelming response to the production led him to take the show on the road across Canada and around the world.

The Magic of Ireland promotes Celtic culture through traditional live music and song, accompanied by champion dancers from Canada and around the world.

The troupe’s energy, enthusiasm and precision have drawn praise from audiences across North America and Europe.

The show begins at 8 p.m.
