Mount Elizabeth Secondary School in Kitimat has been closed until Thursday, November 5 due to health concerns.

"We had 40 per cent of our students at home sick," said Coast Mountains board chairman Barry Pankhurst. "In consultation with Dr. David Bowering and the superintendent of schools, we have come to a decision to close until next Wednesday."

Student absentees have escalated in the past few days at the local secondary school, located on Kingfisher Avenue North.

"Most medical people now are treating sickness as if it was H1N1," added Pankhurst.
