First West Credit Union has announced that Bev Brown has been named president of Envision Financial. Bev will continue to serve as chief executive officer for inUnison Technology, a joint venture subsidiary of Envision Financial and First Calgary Savings.

“Bev is an exceptional leader in our organization and in our communities,” says Gord Huston, current Envision Financial CEO and incoming First West Credit Union CEO. “She brings a deep passion for ensuring our member’s financial well-being is at the centre of our thinking and actions.”

Bev presently serves as CEO for inUnison Technology. Prior to this, she served as chief operating officer for Envision Financial. As COO, she was responsible for driving strategies and practices to enable the credit union to fulfill its service commitment. Before joining Envision Financial in 1999, Bev held senior positions in the financial services industry with chartered banks. Bev holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. She is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, specializing in strategy, and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

“Envision has a long history of serving our communities and advocating for our members,” says Bev. “I look forward to continuing that tradition and pursue opportunities for new relationships and deepen our commitments to our communities in the Fraser Valley.”

Bev’s commitment to the community extends well beyond her credit union responsibilities—she is also the President of the Langley School District Foundation. In addition, Bev is a past board member of both the Pacific Riding for Disabled and the Ethical Funds Company, Canada’s first and largest family of socially responsible mutual funds. Bev resides in the Fraser Valley with her husband Ed and their son Odell, while daughter Devon is currently studying political science at the University of Victoria.

Effective January 1, 2010 Envision Financial will become a division of First West Credit Union. Today Envision is B.C.’s third-largest credit union with 21 branches and 20 insurance offices, including in Kitimat. The organization has approximately $3.8 billion in assets under administration, 120,000 member-owners, and more than 800 employees. For seven years running, Envision has been named one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada. Envision is designated a Caring Company by Imagine Canada. For more information, visit envisionfinancial.ca.
