About Us

The Northern Sentinel has been a part of Kitimat almost from the beginning of the community. Since the first issue hit the muddy, construction-era streets in 1954, it has chronicled the lives and times of this unique town and its people. And it continues to do so today, always striving to maintain the quality that has made it an award winner both in provincial and national newspaper competitions. The Northern Sentinel is a subscription tabloid with a circulation of more than 2,000 and published every Wednesday. Northern Sentinel Press also prints a Friday free-distribution newspaper, the Northern Connector. A joint publication with our sister papers in Terrace and Prince Rupert, it reaches homes from the Queen Charlottes to Stewart in the north to the Hazeltons in the east to Kitimat in the south. Through the Northern Sentinel, the Northern Connector and its flyer distribution - plus the ability to "swing" your ad to other newspapers across the north - we are able to offer our clients a variety of advertising opportunities. In turn, that allows us to tailor your advertising effort to ensure you get the best bang for your buck. The Northern Sentinel is part of Black Press.
