Questions to village council

To the people of Burns Lake.

I have spent my summers for the last 30 years in Burns Lake.

It is a beautiful area and has always been a great place for me and my wife - until recently.

I am thoroughly disgusted with what I see happening within the hierarchy of the village office.

I have lived a long time and have a special interest in politics, both within my home town of Palm Springs and my adopted summer home in Burns Lake.

I have seen the pine beetle decimate the forest - but I have also seen the powers that fought back by upgrading the community both with downtown renewal and upgrading the streets - Paul Carver and the amenities - Spirit Square - Diana Roberts.

I have studied the local newspaper and visited with members of the community and have developed some insight into the subject.

I would like to know why the village would discontinue a position - and lose a great recreation programmer when she has done such a good job at upgrading recreation and what was nothing less than a disaster of a park.

Why would you, as a supposedly knowledgeable council let such a person go - only to replace her two months later with an ex-councillor?

It seems to me it is a conflict of interest to even consider this.

I could be wrong - but wasn't the VBL going to work with the regional district before hiring a new recreational director?

Council - you should instruct your village staff to start having an open dialogue with the community now - because we deserve it and it is after all your job.
