“You must be born again”

When you were born, you became aware of everything around you.

Your senses of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch became avenues to experience the world.

When Jesus told us we needed to be born again (or born from above), he was saying that in order to experience his word, the Kingdom of God, we need our ‘spiritual’ senses to be made alive.

This is a genuine spiritual birth. It is not passed down through heritage; it is not ‘turning over a new leaf,’ nor is it some mystical experience achieved by human effort.

It is a powerful work of God alone.

But God requires two conditions from you before he grants this new life: repentance and faith in Christ.

Repentance - because God will not grant his priceless gift to anyone who is not willing to confess and forsake their sins; faith in Christ - because God's gift of eternal life is in Jesus Christ alone

When God hears a prayer of genuine repentance and faith in Christ, he sends his Holy Spirit to dwell within that person and make their spirit alive. New life begins. Abundant, righteous, and eternal.

Suddenly a person ‘sees’ the reality of God's presence in their daily life. The "eyes" of their understanding have opened.

Their "ears" hear the promises of God in a new way. They have a hunger for the bible and ‘taste’ (experience) that God is good. They reach out and ‘touch’ him through prayer, and he answers back.

To be ‘born again’ is to be made alive to God while living on earth. This is abundant and eternal life.

This is why Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life: the one who believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" - John 11:25,26
