ABOUT US: Lakes District News is the only local paper available in Burns Lake. We are among the many papers owned by Black Press. We publish every Wednesday and we have a circulation of over 1800 copies per week. Lakes District News is a strong community supporter. So far this year we have given back to the community with over $18,000 in donations to various community groups and individuals through advertising or with other financial support. We are your community news paper and we support the Lakes District.
ABOUT THE AREA: Burns Lake is the Heart of the Lakes District.
Although the village's population is 2,658, it serves as the supply centre for 10,000 people in neighbouring communities.
We have beautiful unique shops, from sports to painting, something for everyone.
Recreation and leisure activities abound in and around the Lakes District. From fishing, hiking, biking, opal and agate hounding to horseback riding and canoeing, there is plenty to do and see. We are confident you will find your stay in the Lakes District relaxing and enjoyable.
If you're an angler, regardless of your skill level the Lakes District is a perfect playground. With it's myriad of lakes and half-dozen species of sport fish, the area offers anglers a multitude of choices. The Lakes District is renowned for its hospitality.
