Smithers takes on world

Two of Smithers’ karate students will be heading to Dublin, Ireland, at the end of October to take on the world at the World Championships, 2009.
Both Lucas Cole and Sarah Rumph will head to the championships after earning spots on the Canadian team after placing in the nationals, held in Ottawa over the May long weekend.
Their coach, Marwan Abu Khadra, will be the coach for the Canadian team.
“When I’m training and the coach speaks of Ireland, it hits me, this is really happening: I get to go and represent Canada,” Cole said.
