RCMP are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a residents' vehicle and stole personal property on July 7.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. police responded to a report of a man stealing property from a vehicle on Elm Drive. When approached, the male fled on foot, jumping through fences and exiting through residents yards, heading towards Dogwood Park.

The male, described as young, approximately 5'5" tall and wearing a black or brown hoody with white markings on it and a black tuque, jeans, with white shoes evaded RCMP capture.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the Smithers detachment or Crimestoppers, and police would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles and other belongings and to not leave anything up for grabs.
