A little taste of Smithers anyone?
The first ever Taste of Smithers took place over the weekend and was a wonderful showing of the diverse menus Smithers has to offer.
On the list was the newly opened Luftikus which was serving a three different dishes. One was a Thai Chicken with curry thai veggies. The second was an East Indian dish of Butter Chicken with red lentil soup. As well as a Mexican vegetable meal with chocolate chili and veggie beans.
The second stop was Safeway, which was giving out samples of their huge Lumberjack sandwich as well as their tomato soup and Eating Right fruit drinks. Next up was the Twin Valley Inn. Serving hardy portions of Hot and Sour Soup, Sam See Rice Noodle and Chines Style Chicken Wings.
The Alpenhorn served up a plate of appetizers. Offering a Prawn Bisque with fresh lemon grass and coconut milk cilantro. A Tandoori Spring-roll with a roasted chicken, sun-dried cranberry, and fresh mint yogurt. The last item on the plate was a chocolate & almond ravioli, sautéed in chili brown sugar on a pool of raspberry couli.
Blue Fin was serving up a small selection of their menu with a dynamite, spicy crab, and california rolls with a hot cup of Green Tea.
Boston Pizza was in the mix, offering a plater of garlic pizza bread, toped with Boston Pizza spice and cracked pepper dry ribs.
The Capri Family Restaurant featured their mighty chicken ranch wrap, followed by their potato bacon soup.
Chatters used this opportunity to showcase a bit from their new breakfast menu, offering a Belgian waffle, yam hash, and a short bread cookie served with a beautiful cappuccino.
Zoer’s at the Hudson’s Bay Lodge served up an amazing array of different menu items including Wiener schnitzel and a spicy curry vegetable with rice chicken, toped off with a roasted wild mushroom sauce, beside a cabernet sauvignon from Sawmill Creek.
The last stop of the day was Java’s which was serving up a number of items, showcasing mushroom bruschetta, with a balsamic vinegar reduction. As well as yam sesame seed fries, with coconut tempura prawns, a spinach quiche, Mediterranean flat bread and an assortment of squares.
Everyone who supported the cause deserve some thanks. There were over 150 tickets sold with half of all proceeds going to Innovation Foods, whom without community support would not exist.
