Robin Gilbert had a four-goal weekend Saturday and Sunday as the Williams Lake Stampeders won both games over the visiting Houston Luckies.

Gilbert scored one goal Sunday in the 5-3 win and a hat trick Saturday in the 5-2 win.

The Stampeders drew first blood Saturday night at the Complex, with a goal by Gilbert. The Luckies’ Mike Mackay answered early in the second. Gilbert answered 26 seconds later, and 1:09 after that, Skylor Hasell scored again for the Luckies.

The rest of the game was all Stampeders, though, with Francis Johnson, Dan Kirkham, and Gilbert all finding the back of the net.

Wilfred Robbins had four assists in the game, Johnson had two, and Aaron Zurak, Gilbert Robbins, and Gilbert each had one.

Goaltender William Sellars saved 20 of 22 shots.

The Stamps went two-for-five on the powerplay, while Houston went zero-for-two.

On Sunday afternoon, the Stampeders notched three goals in the first period, by Jason Wright, Robin Gilbert, and Wilfred Robbins. Ryan Yaworski would add a fourth early in the second period before Houston scored, a goal by Jon Marren.

Wilfred Robbins scored again for the Stamps before the end of the second.

Houston’s Brandon Orpus and Mike Mackay would each score in the last three minutes of the game.

Francis Johnson had two assists, and Kirkham, Grant Johnson, Zurak, Mattt Lees, Dina LeComte, and Jared Kohlen each had one.

Goaltender Justin Foote made 28 saves.

Captain Alozo Slaney said that while they did lose both games the Luckies still got a lot accomplished over the two games and that it was great to get some of the young players onto the ice.

“Saturday night we started off good... but we had 10 minutes that we laxed and they took advantage of that,” Slaney said.

Sunday they started off a bit slow, and while they made a strong attempt to get back on the ball, they lost 5 - 3.

“We were just a little unlucky on the puck bounces,” Slaney said. “And we just couldn’t find the back of the net.”
