Overall Halloween weekend was fairly quiet, according to the RCMP, other than the fireworks seemed to chase a bear out of its hibernation, to join several trick-or-treaters near Mountain View Drive.

"It seemed not to want to have anything to do with the little ghosts and goblins," Sgt. Sean Wadelius said, however RCMP stepped up their patrols that night searching for the bear.

An unknown suspect was also responsible for the slashing of one of the RCMP cruiser's tires, Wadelius said. At this time there are no known suspects, however Wadelius said that if found he'd appreciate the chance to tell the person responsible how his actions could have effected others as mounties then had to spend their time replacing the slashed tire.

There was one fight involving 10 to 15 participants at the Idylwild that night as well, Wadelius said. At this time, RCMP are not sure what precipitated the fight, however elevated alcohol levels were a factor.

"For fear of the elevated harm and disturbance to the public, pepper spray was used to help quell the riot and disperse the combatants," Sgt. Wadelius said.
