Goodacre running for Action

Politics can make strange bedfellows.

Mary Etta Goodacre has decided to represent the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding as the Canadian Action Party.

Despite the fact that husband, Bill is a strong supporter of the NDP, Goodacre said she had to run to raise awareness about the party.

“They are against huge corporations that only help themselves, not Canadians,” Goodacre said.

“For example, General Motors lost $14 million dollars last year and asked the government for a bailout. They paid their CEO $28 million that year. These people are not starving, but we bail them out.”

The real reason Goodacre decided to run had its origins a little farther from home.

She said she believes that the Twin Towers could not have been felled by two planes and there is more to the story concerning the Sept. 11 attacks.

“9/11 is the evil, pussy boil that until we lance it, nothing will get better,” said Goodacre.

At a caucus meeting held at the Old Church by NDP leader Carole James in August, Goodacre approached her to talk about 9/11.

“She laughed in my face,” Goodacre said. “And I couldn’t stay with a party that didn’t take my views seriously.”

After seeing Connie Fogal, leader of the Canadian Action Party, speak to the importance of finding out the story behind 9/11, Goodacre decided she wanted to be a part of it.

The fiscal and environmental policies of the party, opposing globalization and free trade agreements are also part of what Goodacre said appealed to her about the party.

Goodacre, will be garnering the support of friends to put up signs and handle the campaign.

“Bill will help, but he is very loyal and will stick with the NDP,” Goodacre said.
