The credit union opened its doors in Fort St James on October 3, 1999 as Nechako Valley Credit Union.

In 2004 Nechako Valley Credit Union merged with Prince George Savings and Quesnel and District forming Integris Credit Union.

Integris Credit Union now has a total of seven branches in the communities of Fort St James, Vanderhoof, Prince George, Quesnel and Clinton.

“As we were gathering materials for our open house I went through all of our newspaper clippings for the last 10 years,” branch manager Joan Burdeniuk said. “I was inspired by what the credit union has been able to return to the communities on behalf of our members.

“Our mission statement is that we are committed to enhancing the well being of our members, staff and communities. The last year has been difficult for all of us, but by continuing to focus on what is in the best interest of our members and our communities we have all benefited.”

The other news of the day was that the credit union is increasing their open hours effective immediately.

“We are pleased to announce that we will now be opening at 10 a.m. Tuesday to Saturday. Every year we complete a member survey. I know they are a pain,” Burdeniuk said. “However, we really appreciated the time our members take to complete them and we really do read them.

“Over the last couple of years it has become apparent that we needed to review our hours. So we have! Remember, the credit union is owned by it’s members and it’s our mandate to contribute back to the community, come on in and join us.”
