Williams Lake golfers had their hands full this past weekend at the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club when the visiting Quesnel and 108 Resort teams arrived for the 2009 Northern Ryder Cup.
Gerry Kelly, Kyle Williston, Jay Davis, George McGibbon, Dave Lauzon, Chris Hicks, John Pickard, Bevan Koch, Jeff Knox, Harvey Lammi, Jay Harvey and Ernie Manchur comprised the WL squad, teaming up to take on the visiting golfers in three rounds of match play.
After 54 holes Williams Lake emerged the winners, amassing 14.5 points over the two-day event. In second place was Quesnel, with nine points. And in third was 108 Resort, with 3.5 points.
“Each city has six two-man teams to total 12 players per team,” says Kelly, explaining the scoring system.
“The two-man team would get one point for winning, a half point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. Over the weekend 27 matches were played and the three-team totals add up to 27.”
This weekend at the WLGTC is the Big Hole Scramble on Saturday, Sept. 26. For more information call the pro shop at 250-392-6026.
