Great performances at Bella Coola Rodeo
Published: July 08, 2008 8:00 AMThe Central Coast was a buzz with rodeo action as they hosted the British Columbia Rodeo Association’s Bella Coola Rodeo June 28-29. Williams Lake and area cowboys and cowgirls once again captured the majority of the pay-outs from the weekend with some stellar performances.
Willie Twan of Alkali Lake took third place in the Tie-Down Roping with a time of 18.6 seconds picking up $145.60 for his efforts. Jerry Tucker of Williams Lake was fourth with a time of 20.3 seconds.
Garret Madley of Alexis Creek was runner up in the Saddle Bronc riding Alley Oop to a score of 67 earning $283.92 in the process.
Rob Everett of 150 Mile House captured the Steer Wrestling title clocking in at 14.5 seconds to earn $291.20. Twan placed third with a time of 15.0 seconds to pick up $145.60.
Rayell Ilnicki of Williams Lake finished runner up in the Breakaway Roping with a time of 16.1 to earn $272.09. Denise Swampy of Williams Lake was third with a time of 20.8 seconds to cash in for $188.37.
Allison Everett of 150 Mile House took third spot in the Ladies Barrel Racing with a time of 17.378 seconds to pick up $182. Ellis Smith of Williams Lake took second place in the Junior Barrel Racing with a time of 17.342 seconds. Henley Dick of Alexis Creek won the Junior Steer Riding with a score of 68. Grayson Winters of 150 Mile House was runner up with a score of 66. Savanna Laviolette of Williams Lake placed third.
Tucker and teammate Bobby Lewis of Vernon combined to win the Team Roping event with a time of 7.2 seconds to earn $386.75 each. Lewis and Twan placed second clocking in at 11.5 seconds to pick up $295.75 each. Brett Wagner of Anahim Lake joined up with Dave Altherr of Quesnel to take third in a time of 13.1 seconds and cash in for $204.75 each.
Justin Davis of WIlliams Lake won the Bull Riding event riding Bunny to a score of 80 and earning $382.20. Allison Everett won the Ladies Steer Undercoating in a time of 2.4 seconds to win $123.76.
Jennifer Schuk of Tatla Lake placed third in the Pee Wee Barrel Racing with a time of 18.214 seconds.
Allison Everett won the Ladies Goat Tying with a time of 12.1 seconds to earn $101.92. Katrina Ilnicki of Williams Lake was second in 12.6 seconds. Alyson Schuk of Tatla Lake captured third in 13.4 seconds.
Ellis Smith won the Junior Goat Tying competition in a time of 15.1 seconds. Jennifer Schuk was runner up in the Pee Wee Goat Tail Tying event with a time of 13.2 seconds. Madison Smith of Williams Lake won the Junior Pole Bending with a time of 22.641 seconds. Ellis Smith took second in 25.255 seconds.
Jennifer Schuk was runner up in the Pee Wee Pole Bending with a time of 22.497 seconds.
The team of Rayell and Katrina Ilnicki won the Team Roping event in 7.9 seconds to earn $182 each.
Denise Swampy and 150 Mile House’s Brent Manuel were runners up in 8.4 seconds.
Swampy joined Quesnel’s Rita Murray to take third place with a time of 16.2 seconds.
