Thanks for 7th player award votes
Editor:
I had a dream the other night (Oct. 21) and it was about the Stamps.
I don’t know exactly what was transpiring. I was aware there was a game going on and it included a few former Stamps such as Willy Dubray, Doug Bouholtz and John Margetts.
It dawned on me that I did not offer my thanks to all who voted for me to receive the 7th player award.
To those of you who aren’t aware, I received this award in the spring at the Stamps banquet. I was very surprised and honoured to be acknowledged for this.
In fact, I received a 7th player certificate as well as a few gifts, and one of them was a silver Coy Cup medal which I will treasure.
The dream also brought memories of the Coy Cup.
I was there and very glad I went to witness this historic sporting event. For many years the Stamps have tried to win this coveted trophy.
For some of the players this trip began in the early 2000s when some of the players started on their quest.
The nucleus of this group began to take form and resulted in the players that won the Cup.
This past year they came together as a team and what a ride they went on.
During the season as most of you noticed, they played their hearts out every game and made mistakes along the way, talked about it, and kept going, winning and losing.
All along during the Coy Cup I was cheering the team on and not doing it for the 7th player award, and it didn’t even occur to me what I was doing was for an award. What a team.
Thanks for the votes. We are in another season and no one knows what might happen.
