As always, the World Famous Williams Lake Stampede is sure to be a great time.
For the 83rd time, the Stampede will thrill and entertain regular Stampede-goers and newcomers alike.
This is Williams Lake’s biggest annual event, and it offers people a chance to enjoy one of the best weekends they’ve ever had.
This year will feature the brand-new beautiful announcers booth and a record number of top-notch rodeo competitors.
Everything about the Stampede is sure to please.
There’s the rodeo action, where every event is a display of incredible athleticism and skill. And there’s the heart-stopping mountain race, the beautiful choreography of the drill teams, and the hilarity from clown Dennis Halstead.
There’s also the entertainment — talented musicians Alan Moberg, Ed Peekeekoot, Ken McCoy, and Whiskey Jane — karaoke, kids activities, and the midway.
There’s the food, breakfasts and steakouts put on by the Rotary Club of Williams Lake and the Kiwanis Club, and the food provided by the wonderful people at the Stampede concessions.
On Saturday is the Stampede parade, which is always chock-full of great floats and fun. Also Saturday is the Street Party, with even more entertainment, including Creeshu, Kordoroy, Shaun Hunjen, and the Williams Lake Community Band, the Lakers Car Club classic car show and shine, and a number of activities for the whole family.
Remember to wear red Friday to support our armed forces and pink on Sunday, to support a local rodeo family dealing with cancer.
As always, if after the weekend you’re full of good times, good food, and great memories, there is a way to express your thanks: keep an eye out for anyone in the army of volunteers who work so hard to put on western Canada’s premier event. And if you see one (you’ll recognize them; they will welcome you at the gate, serve you your pancakes and burgers, and make sure you enjoy your time at the Stampede), thank them for showing you a great time at the Stampede. That’s what they work so hard to do, and your thanks is an additional reward.
