UPDATED: One killed, two injured in Highway 97 crash south of Williams Lake

Williams Lake RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service, and a traffic analyst from Prince George are investigating a crash Sunday on Highway 97 that killed one person and sent two others to hospital.

No names have been released, but RCMP say those involved are from the Lower Mainland.

At 3:50 p.m. July 19, a northbound car crossed the centre line near Enterprise Road, 30 km south of Williams Lake, and collided with a southbound car head-on.

Highway 97 was closed until 9 p.m. Sunday.

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police say it appears that the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor. The road was bare and dry and in very good condition.

Police are asking that any witnesses to the incident come forward and speak with investigators. The Williams Lake RCMP can be contacted at 250-392-6211.
