A McLeese Lake woman died after she lost control of her car on Highway 97 Monday morning.

The Williams Lake RCMP say Christine Paxton, 23, was driving north on the highway about two kilometres south of McLeese Lake at about 11:15 a.m.

She then lost control of her Pontiac Sunfire, which ended up in the west-side ditch. The car skidded through the ditch, hit a driveway, and overturned.

Paxton, the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor who had stopped at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and say the road was bare and dry and in good condition.

The weather was clear and sunny with good visibility.

The BC Coroners Service also attended the scene and will continue its investigation with the assistance of the local traffic analyst.

Police ask any witnesses to speak to investigators by contacting the Williams Lake RCMP detachment at 250-392-6211.
