Information on Supernault sought
Published: October 10, 2008 7:00 PMThe body of Gerald Randall Supernault was found on the Sugarcane Indian Reserve, about 12 kilometres south of Williams Lake Sunday evening.
After Supernault was reported missing to the Williams Lake RCMP on Aug. 22, an investigation was initiated and numerous efforts were made to find the man through ground and aerial searches in the Williams Lake area.
During the investigation, there were reported sightings of Supernault in the East Vancouver area, but none of the sightings were confirmed despite extensive police efforts.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, the Williams Lake RCMP received a call to assist the BC Ambulance Service with a deceased person located at the reserve.
Several investigators of the Williams Lake RCMP responded and located the body of a deceased man. Investigators secured the scene, assisted by the Williams Lake Forensic Identification Section and General Investigation Section.
On Oct. 6, an autopsy identified the deceased as being Supernault.
Foul play hasn’t been ruled out. North District Major Crime investigators were called in to provide further support with the investigation.
Williams Lake Indian Band Chief Ann Louie has been advised on the status of the police investigation.
Supernault was last seen alive leaving the Toosey Indian Reserve wearing black pants, black shorts, and hiking boots on Aug. 7 or 8.
When he went missing, he was described as being a 37-year-old aboriginal male with a medium build, at five feet, 10 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair. He was further described as weighing about 186 pounds and had a complexion that may have been pockmarked or had pimples.
RCMP are asking anyone who may have spoken to Supernault between Aug. 1 and Oct. 5 or has information pertaining to his death to contact Cpl. Mike Hacker or Const. Ryan Fehler at 250-392-8702, attend the Williams Lake RCMP detachment to speak to one of the investigators in person, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
