Three killed in Highway 97 collision

Three people have been killed after a motor vehicle collision Friday morning on Highway 97 10 kilometres north of Williams Lake. The collision occurred at about 8:15 a.m. in the 3500 block on Highway 97. The highway was closed in both directions until 12:30 p.m.
The passenger in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a fifth wheel travel trailer succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at Cariboo Memorial Hospital. The driver of the truck was taken first to Cariboo Memorial Hospital, and then to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with a lower body injury.
According to the RCMP's preliminary investigation, a southbound 1992 Honda Accord crossed the centre line and collided with the truck. Both occupants of the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.
Names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services is still investigating the crash.
