SCARY TREATS Senior witch Laurie Bartley and her apprentice Crystal Bartley offer guests gifts out of different sacks during the Miocene community Halloween party. Instead of sweets there were eyeballs and other scary slimy objects to feel.

Children of all ages and adults alike, attending the annual children’s Halloween party at the Miocene Community Hall, were dressed in scary, animal, fairy and cowboy style costumes.

Judging by how the children crowded the different activity stations in the hall they had fun and enjoyed playing all the games offered.

In between groups of children went down to the barn, and if they dared they walked the Hall of Morbid Manner.

Screams from the Haunted House indicated that another victim got really scared by one of the creature popping out of their hiding space.

Members of the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department stood their ground having a watchful eye over the bon fire and serving hot chocolate.

Many helping hands made this Halloween party another successful event. Unfortunately I can’t mention everyone, but here are the main organizers, which deserve a hand of applause: Kelly Pfleiderer (Hall) and Joyce Randall (Haunted House).

One important part of the Miocene events is Pam Mahon. Happy Birthday Pam! Thanks for spending your birthday organizing the concession. She and her kitchen crew were kept busy preparing and serving hot dogs, cookies, squares, muffins and refreshments to the hungry crowd.

I also would like to thank members of the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department to be there to ensure a safe event, taking care of the traffic and lighting the way from the hall to the Haunted House. Congratulations to all organizers and their volunteers for another well-done party.
