They’ve played in Tokyo, Singapore, across the United States, and Canada, and now the Harlem Crowns basketball team is coming to Quesnel.
Founded in the 1950’s by Chico Burrell, a former member of the renowned Harlem Globetrotters, the Harlem Crowns help community organizations raise money.
Players on the Crowns are all former college basketball players with at least a touch of showmanship in them.
As with the Harlem Globetrotters, the Harlem Crown play regulation four quarter games filled with the zany and whacky.
The difference is the Crowns play against local teams provided by local sponsors, as opposed to a team that travels with them.
The Crown, fresh from training camp in northern California will be playing a team of celebrity community members at Correlieu senior high school Nov. 13, 7 p.m.
The money raised will be used to support the activities and programs at the Native Friendship Centre.
Tickets are $6.00 in advance, $8.00 at the door.
