Tough week for players

Hello All.
Welcome to the first and only edition of Matthew Herskovitz’s contribution to Notes from the blue line.
After being given, rather abruptly, the task of writing this column by my teammates Eliot Raibl and Skyler Smutek, I was quite hesitant at the prospect of writing the article, but I finally succumbed and welcomed the challenge.
I hope everyone enjoys.
This past week had no shortage of adversity. Going 0-3 against division rivals Prince George, Williams Lake and Trail, there is obviously much to be corrected but nothing we can’t overcome.
Two major areas where we must show immediate improvement are in our simplification of the game and the morale amongst the players.
There are certainly other elements that can use some adjustments, but by assuring those two specific facets, I think the other lacking components will undoubtedly progress as well.
I’m not in the least bit concerned.
We have a great group of players with the talent and attitude to be able to overcome these challenges.
It is only a matter of time before we begin to witness positive results.
Everyone must maintain their faith because there is absolutely no quit in this hockey club.
On the lighter side, we had the privilege of being introduced to Darick Ste-Marie’s girlfriend.
She was with us for about a week and I’m sure it was a nice treat for Ste-Marie, who hadn’t seen her in close to three months.
We also had our second snow fall of the season which obviously caused for some snow battles, specifically between the players who paid a visit to the Cariboo Christian School.
With Hertz, Holst, the Hawryluks, Higgins, Hansen, French, Pears and I, it was an all out war.
The actual school visit was a wonderful experience for me, as I’m sure it was for the other guys, as the time we were able to share with the kids was unbelievable.
There were clearly many highs and lows throughout the week but look for a major comeback on the ice and expect many great stories to come in the weeks that follow.
Thank you for allowing me to produce this article, as Eliot and Skyler will return next week with their own Notes from the blue line.
