Triathletes don’t quit

The cream of Quesnel’s athletic crop got an early start to their Saturday, converging on Dragon Lake elementary at 7 a.m. to bike, paddle and run the Billy Barker Days Triathlon.
While the Legion Beach crowd was bitterly disappointed nobody capsized their canoe, John Courtney was given the canoe leg’s Conspicuous Incident honours for paddling the course in the opposite direction than all the other teams.
And while nobody wiped out on their bicycle negotiating the treacherous diving left turn from Hydraulic Road down to Legion Beach, Jerry McFetridge takes home the Hard Luck title for getting a flat tire on his bike while bombing down the hill.
Although the triathlon was scored as a team event, Dacre Dyer posted the fastest individual time with 1:22:07.
